Your Pluto Power

Perception - our ability to bring that which is hidden beyond the horizons of our known world into our view - has the tremendous potential to transform our lives. William Herschel would perhaps attest to this fact. He created a new lens which allowed him to see a previously unseen planet whose discovery, arguably, transformed the trajectory of his destiny as described by the Nodes of his Moon [1]. He did not do this alone: his sister, Caroline, meticulously supported him, going on to deliver extraordinary work of her own and King George III saw Caroline becoming the first woman to be paid as a scientist and the first woman to discover a comet.

Firsts and Science fall under the domain of the planet William discovered: Uranus. But transformation belongs to Pluto. William’s work transformed the actions of a King, and Caroline’s work transformed the gender restrictions around the authorities in her field of study. William has his Sun – ruler of his own North Node [2] and ruler of Kings –along with his Pluto in Scorpio, while Caroline has her Saturn – ruler of her own North Node and ruler of restriction and authorities – along with her Pluto in Sagittarius.

When the planets that cannot be seen with the naked eye, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto [3], were discovered, raising hitherto unsee-able worlds of archetypal possibilities from the subconscious of the masses to our conscious awareness, the Moon, ruler of the subconscious and of trends and public opinion, was in Pluto’s sign of Scorpio. Connections between Pluto and the Sun and/or Pluto and the Moon pepper the charts of the individuals who made these discoveries, and fascinating Pluto and Scorpio stories colour the discovery charts of Chiron and his wife, Chariklo, as well.

[1] Before the discovery of Uranus, Saturn was considered the ruler of Aquarius, the sign of William’s South Node of the Moon - a point in the chart that describes the past. William’s past actions and achievements had, until that point, been described by his Saturn in Cancer. With Uranus’ appointment as co-ruler of Aquarius, the “colour” of William’s karmic fuel for his future direction changed from being purely Saturnian to including all that Uranus describes.

[2] The North Node of the Moon describes the future direction.

[3] Pluto has since been designated dwarf planet.
